Leslie McBeth

Director of Professional Development
Future Design School

Leslie McBeth has more than a decade of experience at the intersection of design and education. She began her career in design at the Design Trust for Public Space in New York City, where she worked with the world’s top architects, designers and policy leaders to develop solutions to complex problems in the public built environment. Inspired by the power of design to engage individuals in civic action, Leslie moved to Canada to pursue a career in teaching design to high school students.

Leslie then spent six year teaching high school, where she designed project-based learning activities that provided students real-world experiences in design and innovation. In addition to teaching, Leslie was the Coordinator of Service Learning, the Head of Social Sciences, and a Guidance Counsellor.

Leslie is a Klingenstein Summer Institute Alumni, a Facilitator for the Ontario Conference of Independent School’s Cohort 21 Professional Development program, a Google for Education Certified Innovator, and a TEDx Speaker. She has presented on design and education to thousands of teachers all across North America at events including SXSWEdu, the CUE National Conference, and the Google Innovator Academy.
